Jack Lewin 16October2013 Yiddish Book Center




Jack Lewin, Yiddish poet and activist, was interviewed by Christa Whitney on October 16, 2013 in Los Angeles. This interview is conducted entirely in Yiddish.

Jack was born in Lodz, Poland and is a survivor of the ghetto there. After the war, he emigrated with his wife Regina first to Melbourne, Australia and later, with their children, to Los Angeles. He is very active in the LA Yiddish scene, working with Khezhbn Magazine and the California Institute for Yiddish Culture and Language in addition to writing Yiddish poetry.
